Why Cold Process Matters
At A Good Bar of Soap, we don't take shortcuts. We use the traditional cold process method—a patient, chemistry-driven craft that results in a superior bar of soap that is as kind to your skin as it is to the planet.
1. Nature’s Built-in Moisturizer: Glycerin
In commercial soap production, glycerin (a natural byproduct of the soap-making process) is often extracted to be sold separately in expensive lotions.
• The Difference: Our cold process bars retain 100% of their natural glycerin. This "humectant" draws moisture into your skin, leaving it feeling hydrated rather than "squeaky" and stripped.
2. The Power of the "Superfat"
Because we formulate our recipes from scratch, we practice what’s called "superfatting."
• The Difference: We add more skin-loving oils and butters—like Mango Butter and Botanical Oils—than the chemistry requires to turn into soap. Those extra oils stay in the bar to nourish your skin during every wash.
3. No Harsh Synthetic Detergents
Most "beauty bars" on the market are actually Syndets (synthetic detergents) made with foaming agents like SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate).
• The Difference: Our soap is just that—soap. It is made from plant-based fats and lye. Once the curing process is complete, no lye remains—only a pure, gentle cleanser.
4. Essential Oils vs. Synthetic Fragrance
We believe what you breathe is just as important as what you put on your skin.
• The Difference: We scent our bars with pure essential oils. You get the benefits of aromatherapy without the phthalates and "fragrance" loopholes of mass-produced bars.
5. The Cure
Good things take time. Unlike industrial soap that is milled and pressed in minutes, our bars "cure" for a minimum of four weeks.
• The Difference: This patient evaporation process creates a harder, longer-lasting bar with a creamy, stable lather. It’s the difference between a fast-food burger and a slow-cooked meal.
